Dia 51 / Day 51 - August 22/2012

We left the campground around noon.  We had lunch in Newcastle and walked around the harbor.  I got a tour of the engine room of the Gateshead Millennium Bridge in Newcastle.  This bridge pivots to swing around to allow boats go through.  It uses 6 hydraulic cylinders at 250 bars each.  Each pump runs on a 55Kw motor and it has a 3200 liter tank for the hydraulic oil.  What a beautiful piece of engineering.
We visited the cathedral in Durham, constructed in 1048 this is a majestic piece of architecture.

We stopped in Whitby, the place that inspired the writer of Dracula.  Very beautiful town but could not stay too long.

We arrived at the campground around 8:00pm, had dinner and went to bed.
