Agosto 21 - 22 / August 21 - 22

We arrived at 6:30am in Manila on August 21.  We took a taxi to the airport as we need to catch our flight to Cebu.

We arrived in Cebu at 1:30pm, took a taxi to one of the malls and spent the afternoon walking around and buying a couple of things we need.

In the morning of August 22 we left Cebu for Malapascua where Jorge is waiting for us.  It was a very long and exhausting day of travelling.  After a 5 hours bus ride to Maya we had to wait for over one hour to get the boat to Malapascua.  The boat ride was nerve wrecking to say the least… we do not get afraid often but this boat ride was one to forget.  There were very high seas, to the point that the captain had to go around the island on a different route to reach the destination; however in doing so we ran out of fuel so we were at the mercy of the ocean for around 10 minutes until they refuelled the boat and restarted the engine.  Once we got to Malapascua it was very low tide so the boat had to anchor very far from shore… from there it was up to the small shuttle boats to come and get us.  All the locals jumped on the boats right away and we were left for last.  We reached Malapascua after almost 2 hours (a regular journey is 40 minutes), in the dark and without accommodation.  We met Jorge at his hostel and went to find accommodation for us.  We got a nice bungalow very close by.
