Dia 6 / Day 6 - July 8/2012

Marc and Catalina suggested that we should visit Bonn, so we contacted some people through couch surfing.  We wrote to Jürgen and Silvana, he is german and she is chilean.  The accepted our request for 3 nights.....we ended up staying 4 nights.

We decided that the best way to get to Bonn saving some money was to get a carpool.  We contacted a guy and he was going to pick us up at the central train station at 10:30am.  Around 11:00am we called him and he said that he had to cancel the trip.  We had to take the regional train, so we purchase the day ticket valid for up to 5 people (EUR$40).  We took the train to Bonn.

At Frankfurt's airport train station, the train stopped and the driver started saying that there was a faster train going to Bonn on the platform next to us; a lot of people got off the train and waited for the other one.....we did the same.  After a few minutes, Marce noticed that there was a screen showing the train speed, actually there were two.....as a surprise, we were in high speed train, travelling at 301Km/hour.  After half hour of our trip, the attendant came asking for the tickets.  We gave him the ticket and he said that it was not good, that the ticket we had was only valid for regional trains. He was going to charge us EUR$153 for both of us.  We explained that it was a confusion and that we were on the regional train and they started saying that there was a faster train going to Bonn and we had seen people getting off the train and we did the same.  The attendant, very nice.....german style.....did not charge us for the difference but wrote something in German on the ticket and told us to get off at the next station.  The next station was ours.....jajaja!
What he wrote on the ticket was that we had done something wrong and he had let it go, but we could not do it again.

We arrived in Bonn to Jürgen and Silvana's house.  Since we had the train ticket valid for up to 5 people, they suggested to go to Cologne for the afternoon.  We took the train again and arrived in Cologne, it was gay pride day......what an atmosphere, lots of people.  We drank beers from local breweries and saw the majestic cathedral.  We came back to Bonn around 7:30pm.

Velocidad del tren a 300Km/hora
Train speed at 300Km/hour

Catedral en Colonia (Koln Dom)
Cologne's Cathedral (Koln Dom)

Jürgen and Silvana let us stay in their cabin next to their house in Bonn.  Very lucky with the couch surfing experiences so far.
