El 31 de Marzo tomamos un
bus de Malacca a Singapore. Llegamos
a la casa de Luciano en la tarde. Luciano
es un amigo brazilero que nos va a hospedar por unos dias. Por la noche fuimos a tomarnos unas
cerveces con Luciano y sus amigos.
El 1 de Abril, Luciano nos
llevo a una caminada por el centro de la ciudad, empezamos por el barrio Chino
pero la lluvia hizo que tuvieramos que postponer nuestros planes, afortunadamente
empezo a llover cunado estabamos cerca a un restaurante chino que vendia
cerveza, entonces nos tomamos algunas mientras paro de llover. Cuando paro la lluvia caminamos por el rio
Singapore hasta Marina Bay. Despues
fuimos a un bar, Level 33, que tiene una vista hermosa de Marina Bay, pero la
terraza estaba cerrada por la lluvia. Por la noche estuvimos en una fiesta en la casa de un amigo
de Luciano.
El 2 de Abril, Luciano
invito a sus amigos brazileros a una feijoada en su apartamento. Fue un curso acelerado de portugue para
nosotros, podimamos entender un poco, pero no lo suficiente para comunicarnos
con todos. El almuerzo estuvo
delicioso! Pasamos la tarde en el
Jardin Chino que es cerca al apartamento de Luciano.
El 3 de Abril fue otro dia
de caminar por el centro de Singapore. Estuvimos en el barrio Chino y visitamos en Templo que tiene
la relica del diente de Buda. Caminamos
por Orchard Rd., la calle con los centros comerciales mas elegantes de
Singapore. Nos habian recomendado
ir al piso 53 del mall Ion Orchard para ver la ciudad y se ve espectacular.
En la tarde nos encontramos
con Amalia, una amiga de Luciano, que nos ofrecio llevarnos a un tour por el
Barrio Indu. Terminamos el dia con
comida en la calle Arabe, comiendo cosas Turcas.
El 4 de Abril fue un dia verde…
pasamos la mayor parte del dia en el Jardin Botanico. Es un lugar hermoso para caminar y ver
toda la flora de la zona. Tambien
entramos a la parte donde tiene muchas especies de orquídeas.
En la tarde entramos al
Museo Nacional de Sigapore, donde parendimos de la historia de Singapore y como
se independizo de Malasia en 1965. Es un museo muy interesante y super recomendado.
Tambien estuvimos en el bar
de Marina Bay, nos tomamos una cerveza y vimos el atardecer. Por la noche vimos el show de luces de
“Gradens by the Bay”.
En la mañana del 5 de Abril
estuvimos en algunos centros comerciales… en una visita a Singapore no pueden
faltar los centros comerciales. No
compramos nada, pero deslumbran del tamaño y el lujo.
En la tarde fuimos a Gardens
by the Bay, alli hay dos domos, el de las flores y el del bosque lluvioso. Los dos son lugares muy bonitos, pero el
bosque lluvioso tiene estructuras y caminos especataculares. En la noche fuimos a 1-Altitud, un bar
abierto en el piso 57 de un edificio que tiene una vista especatacular de la
ciudad.

On March 31 we took the bus
from Malacca to Singapore. We arrived
at Luciano’s house in the early evening.
Luciano is a Brazilian friend that has offered to host us for a few days. At night we went out with Luciano and
his friends to have a few beers.
On April 1, Luciano took is
for a walk around the city; we started in Chinatown but the rain postponed our
plans for a couple of hours. We
got stranded in a Chinese restaurant… at least they sell beer so we had a
few. Once it stopped raining we
kept walking around Singapore river and ended up in Marina Bay. We went to Level 33, which has a great
view of Marina Bay, but because of the rain the terrace was closed so we did
not stay. At night we went to a
house party at Luciano’s friend house.
On April 2, Luciano invited
his friends for a feijoada at his house.
It was a crash course of Portuguese for us, we could understand a little
bit but not much. Lunch was
amazing! We spent the afternoon by
the Chinese Gardens, a park near by.
April 3 was another day of
walking around Singarope’s downtown.
We went to Chinatown and visited the Buddha Tooth Relic Temple. We then walked along Orchard Road, a
very posh street in Singapore with some of the most expensive malls in the
city. We had been told to find Ion
Orchard tower and go to the 53 floor to get a nice view of the city… so we
did! It is great to see a city
from above.
Later we met with Amalia,
Luciano’s friend that offered to show us around, and went to the Little India
neighborhood. Our day finished in
Arab Street where we had a nice Turkish meal.
April 4 was a green day… we
spent most of it in the Botanical Gardens. It is a great place to enjoy the flora of the region. We went to the orchard which has many
species of orchids.
In the afternoon we went to
the National Museum of Singapore where we learned about Singapore’s history and
how in 1965 they split from Malaysia and gain independence. This is a highly recommended museum to
visit in you are in Singapore.
Late afternoon we went to
Marina Bay bar, had a beer and enjoyed the sunset from there. In the evening we went to see the light
show at Gardens by the Bay.
In the morning of April 5 we
went to some malls… no visit to Singapore is complete without visiting some
shopping malls! We did not buy
anything but wanted to see the magnitude of it.
In the afternoon we went to
Gardens by the Bay. There are two
domes, the Flower Dome and the Cloud Forest Dome. Both of them are impressive, however the Cloud Forest is
amazing, the structure of it and the walkways are fantastic. In the evening we went to 1-Altitude, a
classy bar in town, to have a beer and enjoy a nice view of the city at night.
