Dia 242 / Day 242 - March 1/2013

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

We are going to visit Anegundi, a small town close by.  We asked a few Tuk Tuk drivers hos much it was to take us there but they wanted too much money, so we decided to take the local bus.  When we got to the main road another Tuk Tuk driver offered us to take us there and when we told him that we were taking the bus he started saying that it was going to be 1 hour or so waiting… we told him that it was okay for us to wait.  Guess what… the bus showed up in 10 minutes.

We visited the town with Natasha, a photographer we met on the bus from Mysore to Hampi.  We went to see several places that are part of a trust organization that helps locals develop small business and empower ladies to work.  First, we visted the banana leaf fibre bag making, then we went to see how they make plaster the old fashion way for a construction site, later we went to the school and talked to the kids, then we went to the cave where people go to study in the afternoon or gather to have something to eat.  In the afternoon we visited a craft-making shop where women make necklesses, earings, etc.  Finally we went to a cave outside town to see  paintings over 4000 years old.

We found out a place to buy beer… well, it is not sold everywhere and finding out where to buy it is like getting something really illegal.  We heard that it is illegal in Hampi… not sure about that, but cannot be found!  We had a couple of beers and when back to Hampi.

Getting back by bus was the same story… we were on the side of the road waiting for the bus a a couple of Tuk Tuk drivers stopped and asked us where we were going and we told them we were taking the bus… they all said that it was going to take us too long to get the bus.  The best one was the last one… he said that there was no more buses running to Hampi… we laughed at him and told him to look back, the bus was behind him… it was hilarious!  Travelling in India is not easy, like one of my friends said, it could exhaust the most experienced travellers’ patience; but sometimes you outsmart them and it is fun!

On the way back we watch a beautiful sunset.
