Hoy estuvimos caminando y conociendo la ciudad. En la mañana visitamos varios de los
templos, esta por ser una ciudad sagrada de la religion Hindu tiene muchos
templos, dicen que mas de 1000. En
esta ciudad se encuentra el unico templo dedicado al dios Brahma, uno de los 3
dioses mas importantes en la religion Hindu junto con Vishnu y Shiva.
En la tarde caminamos por el lago sagrado y vimos algunos de
los lugares donde la gente viene a hacer los baños sagrados. Estos lugares son como unas piscinas
llenas de agua del lago que es agua sagrada. Hay gente que toma el baño en el lago directamente. El baño incluye puyas (rezos) y
ofrendeas a los dioses.
Durante una caminada guiada alrededor de la ciudad tuvimos
la oportunidad de participar en una de las puyas. Fue una ceremonia corta pero muy bonita donde, con la guia
de un Brahma (como un sacerdote Hindu), dimos gracias por todos los beneficios
y pedimos por la salud de nuestros familiares y amigos. Desafortunadamente al final de la
ceremonia nos presionaron a dar una donacion a la cual el sacerdote le puso el
monto y fue publica… de hecho en el final de las oraciones el sacerdote incluyo
el valor de la donacion.
Luego estuvimos viendo el atardecer desde el Templo Savitri
que queda en las afueras de la ciudad.
Para llegar al templo tuvimos que subir mas de 600 escalas.

Today we walked around the city. In the morning we visited some of the temples. Since this is a Holy city there are
more than 1000 temples. In this
city there is the only temple dedicated to Brahma, one of the 3 most important
gods of the Hindu religion together with Vishnu and Shiva.
In the afternoon we walked along the ghats where people come
to bath. The ghats are like pools
filled with sacred water from the lake.
Some people do it directly in the lake. The bath also includes puyas and offerings to different
gods.
During a guided walk around town we had the opportunity to
participate in a puya. It was a
short but very nice ceremony, in which with the help of a Brahma priest, we
thanked god for all the benefits and prayed for our family and friend’s
health. Unfortunately at the end
of the ceremony we were pressured to donate some money to which the priest set
the amount and was completely public… as a matter of fact, the priest said the
amount in the last part of the ceremony.
Later in the afternoon we went for a walk to Savitri Temple,
located outside the city limits.
We climbed more thatn 600 steps to reach the top and see a nice sunset.
