cervecita.

In the morning we took a Tuk Tuk to go to Chaudi, the major
town close to Palolem. Not much to
do in town, however in India there are always a few things that catch your
attention. The first one was a
hammersmith; he still works in the most conventional way possible. He has a small manual blower that helps
keep the fire going… a woman helps him keeping the blower going. He places the steel pieces in the fire
until they are hot and then shapes them according to what he needs to
make. Even to sharpen a knife he
heats it up and hits it with a hammer until it is really sharp. The second one was a stone carving
artisan that makes mortar and pestle, still made by hammer and chisel and
without any safety equipment.
Finally we took a Tuk Tuk back to Palolem… again another surprise, at
the back of the driver’s seat there was a sign stating the tariff as well as
leyend that reads “50% return charge” we believe this meant that if he had to
give us change back he will keep 50% of it… Incredible India, the best slogan
they could come up with!
In the afternoon we took a boat tour around the lagoon. The biggest attractions were the eagles
fishing and the amount of bird types.
For a while there were so many eagles in the air that we could not count
them. The most exciting part was
when 4 eagles were fishing at the same time, it looks like they found a school
of fish and they rushed to get some fish.
The rest of the afternoon we spent it on the beach having
beer.
