Most of the morning we spent it resting and upating the
blog. Marcela was not feeling well
at all so we took it easy for the day.
In the afternoon I went with Natasha and two of her friends
that just arrived in Hampi, to the reservoir. We walked around for a little bit looking for a place to
swim but it was full of local males trying to get a glimpse of female tourist
wearing bikini. We decided to get
a canoe to take us to a secluded area where they would feel better swimming
without having the attention of local males. We spent an hour in the water and then went back to the
hotel.
At 6:00pm we went to get the bus from Hampi to Palolem. Like everything else here in India this
is a good story… we lined up to deposit our backpacks in the trunk and they
wanted us to pay additional for that service, however there was no choice than
to pay. We had beds assigned; it
was supposed to be in the middle of the bus and at the top. When we go into the bus there were no
numbers to the beds… surprise, surprise!
The guy asked us to get in an open bed, there was no curtain… it was
basically at the end of the bus on the hallway. We refused and told him that we had bought a bed in the
middle of the bus and at the top.
After some persuation he put us at the end of the bus on the top bed but
told us to be quiet and asked us for a tip… another big surprise! He was trying to accommodate everybody
and found out that the bus was oversold.
Here is when the story gets exciting… he wanted 3 german guys to share a
double bed and split a couple into two single beds so he could accommodate the
extra passenger. He was so rude
and unpolite and did not manage the situation properly that nobody wanted to
collaborate. The germans refused
to sleep 3 in a double bed… it was unrealistic, they were big guys. Also the French couple did not help
because he yielded at the guy a couple of times. After all we do not know what happen with the woman that did
not have a bed… maybe she slept on the bed on top of the driver… because that’s
an option!
The ride was really rough, the road is in bad shape and
there was an area where there were speed bumps every five hundred meters and
the driver was not the most carefull so we were bouncing up and down all night
long. We were watching a movie and
in one of the bumps the computer flew so high that almost hit the roof. We slept a little bit.
