Dia 280 / Day 280 - April 8/2013

We arrived in Banbasa after 10 hours.  Robin helped us out to get a bicycle taxi to take us to the Indian border, unfortunately they cannot cross the border so we will have to get another one in Nepal.  We arrived at the border, they stamped our exit and we arrived at the Nepal immigration office.  There, in a small house, a man sold us the Nepali visa, stick it on the passport and we are in Nepal… simple!  We took another bicycle taxi that dropped us off at a hotel Robin had suggested in Mahindranagar, the first town in Nepal.

In the afternoon we went for a walk around town but there is not much to do, not too many tourists staying here, so everywhere we walked everybody was looking at us.  We went to an internet café to update the blog.

In the evening we went for a beer and ended up talking to several local people.  They even invited us for a couple of beers… what a hospitable people.  Around 9:30pm a hotel employee came to tell the owner of the bar that we were staying in the hotel where he works and they were going to close and we had to go to sleep.  We had not finished the beer so we stayed a few more minutes.  Five minutes later the hotel owner showed up and took us out of the bar and back to the hotel… it was like a ghost town, everything was dark, it seemed like there was no electricity.  It was like everybody was under a curfew order.
