El 18 de septiembre tomamos un bus a las 10:30
a.m. desde Bangar a Kota Kinabalu en Malasia. Kota Kinabalu es la capital de la
provincia de Sabah en Borneo Malasia. El bus hace una parada larga en Lawas,
donde llegamos a las 11:20 a.m. y no nos fuimos hasta la 1:00 p.m. Finalmente
llegamos a Kota Kinabalu a las 4:30 p.m. Una cosa que tengo que mencionar es el
proceso de inmigración ... salimos de Brunei sin mayores retrasos; luego
ingresamos a Malasia a la provincia de Sarawak, donde obtuvimos un sello en
nuestros pasaportes reconociendo que habíamos ingresado a Malasia. Después de
conducir otros 20 minutos, llegamos a otra frontera; esta vez fue la provincia
de Sabah, que tiene un proceso de inmigración independiente dentro de Malasia.
Esta parada fue la más larga y obtuvimos otro sello en nuestro pasaporte... ¡mas sellos! ¡Afortunadamente tenemos un pasaporte de 36 páginas!
Al llegar a Kota Kinabalu, también conocido como
KK, nos dirigimos al hotel y fuimos a dar un paseo. Esta es una ciudad
completa, con muchos centros comerciales, un malecón con restaurantes, hoteles
y condominios elegantes, todo bonito e inesperado.
El 19 de septiembre fuimos a una agencia de
viajes a preguntar sobre las actividades en Sabah. Marilyn de la agencia de
viajes Marudu Express nos dio malas noticias… los chinos están en vacaciones y
casi todo está reservado para la primera semana de octubre, así que tenemos que
planear un poco y reservar los que este disponible (no nos gusta viajar con
tantas cosas reservadas con anterioridad). Fuimos a un café y evaluamos todas
las opciones para mañana hablar Marilyn.
El 20 de septiembre regresamos a la agencia de
viajes y hablamos con Marilyn, quien fue de gran ayuda. Ella nos ayudó a
organizar el resto del viaje. Parece que tendremos que tomar un bus a Semporna
para ir a la isla de Mabul a bucear. La isla de Mabul también está reservada
para la primera semana de octubre, así que debemos ir esta semana. Fuimos a
Scuba Junkies y reservamos nuestro viaje de buceo y luego regresamos donde
Marilyn para reservar el resto.
Parece que las próximas semanas están
completamente reservadas y planeadas, algo que no nos gusta, pero no queremos
perdernos de nada.

On September 18 we took a bus at 10:30am from
Bangar to Kota Kinabalu in Malaysia.
Kota Kinabalu is the capital of the Sabah province is Borneo
Malaysia. The bus has a long lay
over in Lawas, where we arrived at 11:20am and did not leave until 1:00pm. We finally arrived in Kota Kinabalu at
4:30pm. One thing to note in the
immigration process… we left Brunei without major delays; we then entered
Malaysia to the province of Sarawak where we got a stamp in our passports
acknowledging that we had entered Malaysia. After driving another 20 minutes or so, we hit another
border control; this time it was the province of Sabah, which has an independent
immigration process within Malaysia. This stop was the longest and we got another stamp on our
passport… keep them coming! I am glad we have a 36 pages passport this time!
Upon arriving in Kota Kinabalu, also know as KK,
we headed to the hotel and went for a walk. This is a full on city, with lots of malls, a waterfront
with sophisticated restaurants, high end hotels and condominiums, very
impressive and completely unexpected.
On September 19 we went to a travel agency to
inquire about the trips offered in Sabah.
Marilyn from Marudu Express travel Services gave us some bad news… there
is a Chinese holiday coming up and almost everything is fully booked for the
first week of October, so we are going to plan this part of the trip a bit more
(we hate planning!). We went to a
café and evaluated all the options so we will be back tomorrow to talk to
Marilyn as it is now too late.
On September 20 we went back to the travel
agency and talked to Marilyn who was extremely helpful. She helped us arrange the rest of the
trip. It looks like we will have
to take a bus to Semporna to go to Mabul Island to go diving before doing the
rest of the trips. Mabul Island is
also fully booked for the first week of October. We headed to Scuba Junkies and booked our diving trip and
then went back to Marilyn to book the rest.
It looks like the next week or so is fully
booked and set in stone, something we do not like but do not want to miss some
of the activities we want to do in this area.

Es mejor tener un pasaporte lleno de sellos.....que una casa llena de cosas. Así que adelante, que les llenen esos pasaportes de sellos y a conocer el resto del mundo!!!!
