Dia 235 / Day 235 - February 22/2013

Finalmente podemos salir a conocer Kochi.

Finally we are able to go to see Kochi.  We took the ferry that took us from Ernakulam to Kochi, where we visited some of the historical sites.  First we went to the Jewish neighbourhood; then we went to the other side of the city to visit other historical sites.

In the afternoon we met with Jacob and went to see the fishermen using the Chinese fishing nets and we also walked along the seaside.  In the evening we went to a show of tradicional dances of the region.  One of the performances is called Kalaripayattu, a form of martial arts which originated in the 11th century.  The other performance was Kathakali, which tells a story through facial expressions (Natyam) and hand movements (Mudras).

Later we went for a very nice seafood dinner at a restaurant in Kochi.
