Our backpacking trip: Dia 206 / Day 206

Hoy salimos con la familia de Anupama para Kandy, una ciudad localizada en el centro de la isla y visitamos el Templo Sagrado del Diente de Buda (Sri Dalada Maligawa), un templo Budista muy importante. En este templo se encuentra guardado un diente del dios Buda que segun la leyenda fue recuperado por un monje mientras estaban cremando el cuerpo del dios Buda.

Tambien visitamos Gadaladeniya Raja Maha Viharaya que cuenta con pinturas originales en la roca desde 1344 D.C.

Luego visitamos el templo Sri Lankathilaka Raja Maha Viharaya construido en 1344 D.C. en la cima de la piedra Panhalgala.

Finalmente visitamos el templo Embakka Sri Katharagama Maha Devalaya que se caracteriza por tener 164 columnas de madera tallada con diferentes imagenes representativas de las creencias budistas.

Today we went with Anupama and her family to Kandy, a city located in the centre of the island and visited the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic (Sri Dalada Maligawa), a very important Buddhist temple. In this temple is kept a tooth of Lord Buddha, that according to the leyend, was retrieved by a monk while Lord Buddha’s body was being cremated.

We also visited Gadaladeniya Raja Maha Viharaya a temple that has original paintings in the rock from 1344 A.C.

We then went to Sri Lankathilaka Raja Maha Viharaya temple built in 1344 A.C. on top of rock Panhalgala.

Finally we visited Embakka Sri Katharagama Maha Devalaya temple, which characterizes for having 164 wooden columns carved with different images representing Buddhist believes.
