Our backpacking trip: Dia 186 / Day 186

Hoy nos levantamos temprano y fuimos a visital la Basilica Cisterna. Este lugar fue construido para almacenar el agua que surtia los palacios de los sultanes y sus familias. Esta constituido por 336 columnas y puede almacenar hasta 100,000 toneladas de agua.

En el camino al gran bazzar un vendedor nos entro a su almacen de tapetes, nos dio te (hospitalidad turca) y nos mostro mil tapetes. Fuimos muy honestos y le dijimos que nosotros no podiamos comprar y sin embargo nos dejaron ahi como media hora.

Luego fuimos al gran bazzar, es un lugar gigantesco, unos se pierde, luego repite tiendas, pero es una cosa differente. Aca tambien todos los vendedores lo quieren entrar a uno a los almacenes.

En la tarde estuvimos en la torre Galata de donde se tiene una vista espectacular de la ciudad. Luego estuvimos caminando por la calle Istiklal que es la calle mas comercial y transitada de Estambul.

Today we woke up early to go visit the Cistern Basilica. This place was built to store water to be used in the palace for the Sultans and their families. It is built by 336 columns and can store up to 100,000 tons of water.

On the way to the gran bazzar a sales guy took us inside a carpet store, he gave us tea (Turkish hospitality) and showed us many carpets. We told them that we could not buy them but still they held us there for half an hour.

We then went to the grand bazzar, it is a very large place, where you get lost, then you realize that you are seeing the same stores again; but it is something different. Again, here all the sales persons want you into their stores.

In the afternoon we went to the Galata tower where we had a very nice view of the city. We then went for a walk around Istiklal street, which is the busiest street in Istanbul.
