Our backpacking trip: Dia 129 / Day 129

Hoy estuvimos en el Foro Romano, el Palatino y dentro del Coliseo Romano. El Foro Romano es donde estan las ruinas de lo que antiguamente era el edificio gubernamental, la iglesia y la plaza de los Romanos. Hay ciertas cosas que estan muy bien conservadas, pero la mayoria esta muy incompleta o todavia bajo excavacion. El Palatino es la parte donde eran los palacios de los emperadores y sus familias; aca hay unas partes muy bien preservadas.

El Coliseo Romano es mucho mas impresionante por dentro que por fuera. Se puede ver la parte subterranean donde tenian las jaulas de los animales que participaban en los juegos. Tambien se puede ver una seccion del tunel por donde llegaban los gladiadores desde el Domus Aurea (parte donde entrenaban) hasta el Coliseo para sus peleas.

Today we went to the Roman Forum, the Palatino and inside the Roman Colosseum. The Roman Forum is where the Romans had their government building, church and square. There are a few things that are very well preserved, but most of then are imcomplete or still under excavation. The Palatino is where the emperors had their palaces; there are areas very well preserved.

The Roman Colosseum is more impressive inside than on the outside. One could see the underground area where they kept the animals in cages for the games. You can also see a section of the tunnel used by the gladiators to arrive from the Domus Aurea (training area) into the Colosseum for their fights.
