Our backpacking trip: Enero 23 - 24 / January 23

Vamos para el Parque Nacional Isla Moreton, la tercera isla de arena mas grande en el mundo despues de las Islas Fraser y Stradbroke; todas ellas en Australia.

Tomamos el ferry a las 8:30am y justo antes de las 10:00am llegamos a la isla. La gente lleva todo tipo de juguetes para la isla, las camionetas que traen para jugar en la arena son impresionantes, tienen de todo, nevera, sobretechos, carpas en el techo, equipos de pesca, paneles solares, baterias adicionales, etc.

Nos bajamos del ferry despues de que dejaron bajar todos los carros y caminamos un poco hasta el camping The Wrecks donde vamos a pasar la noche. El agua es cristalina y la arena es dorada… es todo un paraiso! El resto del dia estuvimos en la playa. El atardecer fue espectacular!

El 24 de Enero fue lo mismo… playa de arena dorada y agua cristalina. Estuvimos caretiando donde estan los barcos hundidos pero la corriente estaba bastante fuerte y nos sacaba entonces nos cansamos de peliar con ella y decidimos parar de caretiar.

Desafortunadamente a las 3:30pm salio y se termino nuestro corto tiempo en este paraiso.

Ahora vamos para la Costa Sunshine. Vamos a entrar al Zoologico de Australia. Encontramos un camping en Beerwah, un pueblo muy cerca al zoologico. Vamos a pasar la noche alli y nos vamos a ir bien temprano para el zoologico.

We are going to Moreton Island National Park, the third largest sand island in the world after Fraser Island and Stradbroke Island; all of them in Australia.

The ferry left at 8:30am and just before 10:00am we were docking on the island. People take all kinds of toys to the island, the trucks they bring here are amazing, fully loaded with fridge, awnings, roof top tents, fishing gear, solar panels, batteries, etc.

We got off the ferry after all the cars were unloaded and walked a short distance to The Wrecks campground where we will be spending the night. We set up our tent and went for a walk along the beach. The water is cristal clear and the sand is golden colour… as close to paradise as it can be! We spent the rest of the day by the beach. The sunset was simply spectacular!

On January 24 we had more of the same… golden beach and cristal clear water. We went snorkeling by the ship wrecks but the current was too strong so it pulled us out and we got tired of fighting against it.

Unfortunately at 3:30pm the ferry left the island and with that our short time in paradise.

We are now heading to the Sunshine Coast. We are stopping at Australia Zoo. We found a campground in Beerwah, a small town very close to the zoo. We will spend the night there and will wake up early to enjoy our day at the zoo.
