Enero 30 / January 30

We arrived in Rainbow Beach yesterday afternoon after driving several kilometers on a very bad gravel road.  We are sending the day planning our next days.

In the morning we went to Seary Creek, a cristal clear water creek close to Rainbow Beach.  Before going into the beach I had the great idea to throw a few crumbs into the water to see the beautiful fish that live in these clear water… well, what a surprise when a 1 meter long eel came out of its hiding place to snack on the crumbs, there was also a good size cat fish and neither looked very friendly.  With these two residents we decided not to go into the water in this spot.  We moved to another spot and we could not see anything living there and since we had already ran out of crumbs we decided to go in the water.  After enjoying the refreshing water we came out just to see a small eel in the water and a snake along the side of the creek… this was the end of our refreshing creek experience.

In the afternoon we booked a tag-along 4X4 tour to go to Fraser Island tomorrow morning for the next few days.  It is a 3 days and 2 nights tour on 4X4 Land Cruiser cars… we hope it is going to be fun!  We attended a 45 minute briefing about the trip and were put on 4 groups of 8 people each.

Later in the afternoon we went to see the sunset at Carlo Sand Blow.

Enero 27 - 29 / January 27 - 29

We left the campground in the morning on our way to Noosa.

We stopped at Mooloolaba Beach and went for a quick walk.
We arrived in Noosa in the early afternoon and went to the information centre to find out what activities are available in the area.

We went for a quick walk on the beach and then went for a sunset cruise along the Noosa River until Lake Cooroibah and back.  There was not much of a sunset because the clouds took over the skies.

In the morning of January 28 we went for a walk along the Coastal Track in Noosa National Park to Alexandria Beach (we were warned by the ranger that this is an unofficial nudist beach).  The walk is easy and the landscape is beautiful.  We got to see turtles, rays and jellyfish.  We got to Alexandria Beach and sure enough there was the odd nudist hiding in the bushes.

In the afternoon we went to Noosa Beach to do as the Aussies do… body surfing!  We had bought a body surfing board a few days ago but had not had a chance to use it.  I started looking at the kids doing it and basically jumped on the waves as soon as they jumped on them and it worked.  We had so much fun with it.  Cannot wait to use it again.

On January 29 we left for the Noosa Everglades.  There are kayak tours that will take people there but it was too windy and the lake was very choppy so we decided to forget about that idea and drive to Harrys Hut.  The view is beautiful, we now understand why they call it the mirror river; the water barely moves except for the wind.

We had lunch there and later in the afternoon we left for our next destination.

Enero 26 / January 26

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

In the morning we went to the Glass House National Park, we visited two different lookouts.  The first one was the Glass House Lookout and the second one the Wild Horse Mountain Lookout; both gave us a different view of the mountains.

In the afternoon we went for a walk along the rain forest at Mary Caincross Park.  Later, we went to Gardners Falls where we saw people jumping from the cliffs into the rock pools.

In the evening we went back to Mary Caincross Park for sunset.

Enero 25 / January 25

We spent the day at Australia Zoo, which is owned by Terri Irwin (widow of the legendary Steve Irwin, The Crocodile Hunter).

This place is amazing!... We really loved the Africa section of it, for some reason it has a WOW factor, which will take your breath away.

At the end of the day we visited the animal hospital which is part of the zoo.  This hospital runs 24 hours a day 365 days a year.  The rooms are impeccable and the equipment is the latest technology.
