Our backpacking trip: Dia 45 / Day 45

En la mañana estuvimos visitando el Castillo de Edimburgo, un lugas encantador. Hay un museo militar donde estan las joyas de la corona escocesa que ya no estan en servicio desde que Escocia se unio con Inglaterra. Tambien se puede ver la “Piedra del Destino”, que es una piedra que es la silla del trono cuando ordenan a un nuevo Rey o Reina en Londres. Esta piedra le pertenece a Escocia pero la prestan para esa ceremonia y significa la union de los dos paises y la representacion del Rey o Reina en los dos paises.

En la tarde estuvimos en la Galeria de Arte y caminamos a Calton Hill, una montaña en el medio de la ciudad.

We visited the Edinburgh Castle, what an amazing place. There is a military museum where they show the Scottish Crown Jewels which are not longer in service since the union with England. We could also see the Stone of Destiny, which is the seat of the throne when a new King or Queen is crowned in London. This stone belongs to Scotland but it is brought down to London during coronation to symbolize that the new King or Queen represents both countries.

In the afternoon we went to the Art Gallery of Scotland and walked to Calton Hill, a mountain in the middle of the city.
